It’s hottt in Denver! Last week it was still rainy and pretty chilly…this week full-on summer and I love it. Warmer weather makes me crave healthier, lighter things like salads, tomatoes, pesto! and lots and lots of smoothies and shakes. This shake, though, is my favorite right now and it’s very reminiscent of one of my favorite things ever growing up – a delicious Wendy’s Frosty.
I have no idea how I stayed skinny when I would drink a Frosty every other day, but I did, and it was wonderful. Those days are definitely gone so I had to think of something I could make when I was craving something creamy, cold and chocolaty. This shake really does taste like a Frosty but is made with so many healthy, antioxidant-rich ingredients like chia seeds, raw cacao powder, organic almond butter, coconut milk and protein-rich hemp hearts. Just throw all of your ingredients into a blender and enjoy this healthy satisfying snack or dessert!
- 1 tbsp raw cacao powder
- 3 medjool dates - pitted
- 1 tbsp almond butter or peanut butter
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tbsp chia seeds
- 1 tbsp hemp hearts
- 1 cup unsweetened coconut milk or almond milk
- 1 handful ice cubes
- Place all ingredients into a high speed blender and blend until creamy
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
