Mitch and I have the cutest pup around. She’s 8 months old and still gets a lot of treats for doing tricks, being cute, etc. and I wanted to be able to control what was in these said treats. Granted, I have no idea what’s in her dog food, what she manages to eat when she’s outside for hours, and what her dog bed is made of that she has eaten half of. But still, I was determined to make homemade, healthy treats for miss June.
If you’re like me and are looking for a dog treat recipe, or if you have never ever thought to do this, the time is now. They’re so easy (3 ingredients), healthy for your pup (totally grain free which is a big deal in the dog world), and pretty good (I ate some dough and they smell incredible when they’re baking:)
- 1 ripe banana - mashed
- 1/4 cup coconut flour
- 3 tbsp almond butter
- Preheat oven to 325F.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper
- Combine all ingredients in a small bowl until smooth
- Using a teaspoon measuring spoon, spoon the batter onto your lined cookie sheet
- Flatten each biscuit
- Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until golden brown (I chose 40 minutes to make mine a little crunchier and more dog-biscuit-like)
- Let cool and store in an airtight container (like the mason jar shown)
