These fish tacos. YUM. I had never made fish tacos before, but this recipe was amazinggg, and definitely as good if not better than any I’ve ordered in a restaurant. I used mahi mahi because Costco has my freezer stocked right now and I love the consistency, but any white fish would work well.
Fish tacos used to intimidate me. Well, making fish in general, but these are so easy. Simply whisk together your seasonings of choice, rub it on the fish, then saute until flaky.
How good does that fish look? So yummy. I made my paleo tortillas for our tacos, but any organic corn, or non-grain tortilla would work great (if you care about keeping it paleo). I am loving Siete tortillas right now. They have an almond flour and cassava and coconut flour tortilla that are so good, and much easier than homemade;) We also topped ours with my homemade cabbage slaw which is a must for me when I eat fish tacos.
If you’re not loving fish, try this spice rub on chicken breasts for a chicken taco. It would be just as good. Enjoy!
- 4, 3-4oz mahi mahi filets
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp coconut oil
- gluten free tortillas of choice
- guacamole
- avocado
- tomato salsa
- cabbage slaw
- cheese (not paleo)
- hot sauce
- cilantro
- Combine all spices in a small bowl
- Lay the mahi mahi filets on a plate or baking sheet and sprinkle evenly with the spice rub on both sides
- Rub the spice rub into the fish
- Preheat a large skillet on medium heat and add the coconut oil and allow to melt
- Add the mahi mahi filets and cook on both sides for about 3 minutes each (depending on how thick the fish is), then break up with your spoon to create smaller pieces of fish for the tacos
- Serve the fish in tortillas with toppings of choice and enjoy!

Your fish recipe sounds awesome and so did the Siete tortillas until I saw the price. Good grief.

Yes they’re pricey but delicious! You could always try making your own tortillas. I have a recipe on the blog 🙂
