Week 21! I’m continuing to feel really good. I basically feel like myself just with a bigger belly. Sometimes I notice I’m more tired than normal, and I really need to make sure I am eating well throughout the day in order to feel my best, but other than that, week 21 is a pleasant one!
We were in Denver last weekend and it was so fun to be back. We stayed with my parents in their Airbnb so it was fun to spend time with them the whole weekend. My mother in law and best friend also threw the cutest shower on Saturday! We got some really great things and it was so nice seeing family and friends that I don’t get to see very often now that we have moved. I also wore a new maternity dress from asos and loved how comfortable it was. Flattering, I am not sure 😉 but comfortable for sure! I am now on the hunt for a dress for my Ohio shower in a few weeks! We also had our fair share of delicious coffee while in Denver. If you’re ever in the area, Pablos is one of my all-time favorite coffee spots and you must go! Here are two of our many lattes we got while on our trip – our Airbnb was one block away which was very dangerous! For the record, I have been drinking caffeine while pregnant. A lot of people have differing opinions on this topic, but for me, I think it’s okay. Every morning I wake up and make one shot of espresso, put ice in it, and make my whole milk latte. I love it!
week 21
The twins: The twins are around 10.5″ long and about 1 lb each! They’re the size of pomegranates this week. I went and saw my OB on Tuesday and she reviewed the last scans we had at our Maternal Fetal Medicine doctor (the Dr. I always call our High Risk Dr.) and she said baby A is in the 67th percentile for size and baby B is in the 16th. Even though baby B is smaller, it’s fine, he just needs to stay on his growth curve, meaning he needs to either stay at 16% (or get larger), but not dip below that too much. Will keep you updated!
Cravings and aversions: Everything is pretty much the same. I love eggs, and could eat them for every meal it seems like. I am still not loving carbs (pizza still sounds weird) and sweets aren’t my favorite right now either which is SO weird. I am hoping it’s my body naturally trying to prevent me from getting gestational diabetes 😉 Other than that, I still love plain whole milk yogurt, eggs, cottage cheese, salads, milk, lattes, and burgers. I also really want a spicy tuna roll, or a Philadelphia roll, but I’m trying to resist. Also, mexican does not sound good and I’ve hardly been able to eat chipotle for the last couple of months. Mitch always, always wants chipotle, so I gave in on Monday night, and ended up giving him my entire bowl for about the fifth time. I think he’s smart and knows I won’t be able to eat mine, so always requests we go there so he gets two.
Wearing: Most of my old clothes, but adding in some maternity shirts and shorts. My running shorts have become comfy again because I can wear them low and they don’t bother me, so that’s nice. I really didn’t want to have to buy maternity workout shorts. I STILL need to go to h&m and look at their cheap dresses, but we don’t have one up in The Woodlands, only downtown, so it’s hard to get motivated to drive down there. Houston traffic is crazy.
Sleeping: Still super good! I sleep with an extra pillow and that is really comfy. No complaints and crossing my fingers it stays that way.
Names: Still loving our two picks. No middle names yet. Mitch did have a very interesting idea for a new name for one of the babies this week – he won’t stop talking about it, but I can’t get on board. It’s better than Rex, the first name he loved…
Bump: Bathroom bump pic! This is from last night when we went to dinner for my 28th birthday. This dress is one I have been wearing non-stop since I got pregnant. It’s from Loft about a year ago and it’s jersey cotton and so comfy. I want more dresses like this that I can wear when I’m not pregnant, but also work when I am.
Movement: Still feeling the little babes! It’s so fun to feel them move, and Mitch felt one of them the other night. They seem very active when I lay down in bed, so it’s fun to see if Mitch can feel them but seems like whenever he tries, they stop moving. I’m sure it will just get easier the farther along I get.
Exercise: I went to the gym twice this week and loved it. It’s starting to give me a nice energy boost instead of drain me of all energy like it used to. I walked on the treadmill both days and then do free weights and stretch. It feels SO good to stretch. I hope I am able to keep working out throughout this entire pregnancy, so fingers crossed!
Baby purchases: We got a lot of awesome baby things at our shower last weekend, so thank you to all of our thoughtful friends and family! Our guest room is now filled with so many baby things that I tried to organize yesterday. We also got out car seats yesterday which I was so excited about. Two of our best friends got us the cutest onesies too – little baseball jersey onesies – I am obsessed!
Nursery: A complete disaster right now with the influx of baby goodies we are receiving, but it will get organized eventually 🙂 My friend ordered our West Elm Graham Glider yesterday along with a few other fun things I picked out. One of the blankets will go on the glider, one on the crib, and the pillow will go o the glider too. She got us a great discount, so we let her order it for us. Thanks miss Maggie! Mitch and I went into West Elm on Monday while we were in Denver so we could both try out the glider before buying it and we loved it. Mitch even came around to the velvet fabric I liked so it was a great day! We also go pick up our dresses tomorrow morning which will be fun. I have no idea how we will fit all of this stuff;)
Supplements: Same as before!
What’s next? So we were supposed to meet with a Doula company last week, but it didn’t end up working out (long story short, I had the time wrong), so we are going today to meet with two of them that are available for our due date and have worked with mom’s having twins. My OB also recommended another one, so we may meet with her too, then make a decision. I have my next growth scan at the Maternal Fetal Medicine office on August 2nd, so looking forward to that and crossing our fingers both twins are growing like weeds!
Weight gain: Like I said, I went to my OB this week, so was able to get weighed again. I’ve gained 14lbs total, and 8 since my last appointment 5 weeks ago. I feel good about this number, but also think I could be eating more! Trying to focus on more healthy fats and protein to help fatten these babies up, without fattening me up too, too much.
Stretch marks: None! I am still not that far along, so not surprising, but I am hoping the collagen peptides I drink every day will help prevent them.
Any worries? Nope! Just hoping I continue to feel energized and good for a while!
