Finally I am getting around to posting about the nursery/guest room! Since we live in a two bedroom apartment and have no plans of moving until June, we had to get creative with fitting a nursery for two babies and a full-size bed into one room. Figuring out how to decorate a room that will serve two purposes was actually more challenging than I thought it would be, but luckily it’s done and it’s one less thing on my twin to-do list! You’ll notice there isn’t really a “theme” of any kind, but that’s pretty much what I was going for. There are lots of different animals, colors and textures, and I think the boys will love exploring it!
This is the view when you walk into the room. We went with the West Elm Graham Glider I have talked so much about during some of my other baby update posts. We got an incredible deal on this glider because our friend’s sister worked for Pottery Barn and was able to get us a great discount (thanks, Ellyn!). We ended up going for this glider because the back is high enough to fit Mitch who is pretty tall, and it’s SO comfortable. We went with the performance velvet for fabric because the sales lady at West Elm told us it’s by far their most durable fabric and nothing stains it. This surprised me since it’s velvet, but I’m really happy because this chair is so soft.
The ottoman (and the lamp) is from World Market and we had it in our old house in Denver so decided to just use it in here. The little baskets are from HomeGoods and hold their toys and the gray throw on the glider is West Elm (and the throw on the bed) and they’re on sale for $19 right now. You can’t really tell from the pics but those blankets are so soft and cozy and I want them in all the colors.
Here’s the view of the rest of the room. The dresser/changing table is off of Craigslist and is the Larkin Hi Lo Dresser from Pottery Barn Kids. It’s in perfect condition and we got such a good deal on it – thanks Craigslist! The changing table portion comes off, so we can use it in a “big kid” room down the road, or just keep it as a changing table for a future baby.
I love this part of the changing table. The lamp is from Target (they have the cutest decor lately), I already had the little wooden animals and the little pacifier basket is from Hobby Lobby (pacifier basket is probably so unnecessary but I couldn’t resist). The “&” sign you can see in the background usually has the twin’s first initials on either side of it, but I moved them since the boy’s names are secret 😉
For the guest bed, I pretty much just kept it how it was, minus that giraffe pillow. And the art above the bed I’ve had for forever and it was my grandma’s. I figured since we’re moving eventually, I didn’t want to buy a lot of new art and bedding and I’m glad I didn’t because this works for now.
Juney curious about what’s happening in her new brother’s room!
We went with a crib my friend has that I really liked when I saw her nursery. It’s convertible, so can be used for a crib, a toddler bed and a full size bed. It’s the Delta Emery Crib and can be found at Target, but cheaper on Amazon! We had to get two obviously, but two won’t fit in this room, so as soon as the babies are old enough and want to be in separate cribs, we will just bring a pack n play into the nursery. One twin definitely gets the shaft and this room will be SO crowded, but it’s not forever. Also, this blanket! I saw it over the summer at HomeGoods in Ohio and had to have it. HomeGoods is just so great.
The art above the crib – I love! The top left and bottom right pictures are from Hobby Lobby and remind us both of Colorado so we had to go for those. Mitch went to CU Boulder for college and their mascot is the Buffalo, so he loved that one 😉 The other two frames are frames I already had and I just printed two prints off Etsy. I love the Texas print since they will be born here and they obviously needed something Harry Potter in their nursery, so HP glasses and lighting bolt were a no brainer. Can’t wait to introduce the boys to my favorite books of all time!
So the closet. We are so lucky to have a really big walk-in closet in their room, otherwise I have NO idea where we would be storing the mass amount of baby items we’ve accumulated over the past 9 months. But, as you can see, it’s a cluster. As soon as the 2 car seats and bases (4! of them), and the Rock N Play, swings and boppys they will use right when they’re born are out of there we will have a lot more room.
And the book shelves, my favorite! We got SO many books from friends and family at our baby showers so we have quite the little library going. The shelves are from Amazon and are Ikea.
So that’s the nursery! We can’t wait to actually start using it once these babies arrive!
