I can’t believe we are already at week 30! My Maternal Fetal Medicine doctor told me she is very happy when a twin pregnancy (because of the higher risk of preterm labor) hits the 28 week mark, and every week past that is a great bonus for the babies. So, I was super happy to reach the 28 mark, and now obviously very happy to be about half-way done with week 30! All in all this week has been good. I know I mentioned how great I felt in my last post, and I am realizing this may be because I write them in the mornings when I feel my best 😉 I have definitely been a lot more tired this past week and the dreaded heartburn has come back in the evenings, which sadly kills my appetite for dinner most nights. Other than that, and just feeling bigger, all is good and I am so thankful for how well things have gone so far. Now the babes just need to keep cooking for 5 or so more weeks and we will be good 🙂
The twins: According to my app, the twins are about 3lbs each and 15.7″ long, and are as large as cabbages. Crazy to think they are that big! We go to the MFM doctor on Tuesday for a growth scan so we will get a better idea of how big they are then.
Baby positions: Don’t know for sure, I feel like they are still moving around a lot lately. Judging by all the movement and kicks and where the nurse found his heartbeat this week, baby A is definitely really low, but it’s hard to tell his position. The nurse guessed that he may be transverse, but we will see at our ultrasound on Tuesday! Baby B still seems to be head-up with his head up by my ribs, but we will also determine that at our ultrasound. Ideally, we need both babies to be head down for a natural delivery, so fingers crossed! Our doctor will deliver baby B breech, but then I would need an epidural, and I’d like to avoid that. Lots of things up in the air;)
What I’m eating: Still drinking my chocolate smoothies every morning. I love having them for breakfast because I get all my collagen and spinach in for the day first thing. I’ve also been loving honeycrisp apples. SO good! It doesn’t really feel like fall here yet, but I still started craving honeycrisp apples as soon as September came and I’ve been eating one every afternoon with almond butter. Definitely my favorite treat right now. I also cannot get enough ice water! I am constantly thirsty lately.
Wearing: I have been wearing my maternity jean shorts a lot this week. I’m starting to think I didn’t love them in the beginning because I just didn’t fit into them as well, but now that I’m bigger they’re pretty great. I also started wearing a few really stretchy Target maternity tanks this week and I am loving those. Still LOVING these lulu Align leggings. I would recommend them to any pregnant mom, and non-pregnant people – they are the most comfy thing.
Sleeping: Most nights I have been sleeping great, but other nights I wake up and can’t fall back to sleep. If I sleep on my right side the heartburn wakes me up which is super annoying. Laying on my left side is key. I’ve also been reading so many books lately and stay up late reading – I think I will do a book post soon to review some of the books I’ve read. All really quick, fun reads. But sleeping overall has been fine. I swear it’s our mattress – it’s so comfy and I think makes a huge difference.
Names: I think we have a middle name for baby A which means we have all four names. Yay!
Bump: This is a pic off my Instagram this week after I went to the doctor for a checkup. I am getting large for sure (my little brother refers to me as a whale) and my doctor told me I am measuring at 36 weeks (for a singleton pregnancy). Can’t imagine what 5 or so more weeks (hopefully) will bring!
Exercise: I haven’t been to the gym in forever, not good. This is mainly because I am loving my outside walks with June so much and I just haven’t been making time for it. I really need to start going throughout the week because the squats and lunges I normally do are so important for labor. Also stretching!
Baby purchases: This week the twins got some Christmas jammies 😉 Burts Bees has some great organic cotton clothes for really cheap. Almost all of their sleepers and outfits are around $12 on amazon so I got a few. I also finally pulled the trigger on a baby wrap! I ended up going with this Dolcino wrap after doing some research. This one is apparently great for “beginners” and as a first wrap, so I went with it. I can’t wait for it to get here so I can try it out.
Nursery: Still in disarray but we finally hung the book shelves! I also went to Homegoods yesterday (I absolutely shouldn’t be allowed in there) and got SO many things that I thought might work for the guest bed, but am basically returning everything and going to use what we have. I looked like a crazy person with how high my cart was piled up. The wire basket in the pic with June is the hamper I bought, but even that I think has to go back. I think the holes are too big and all the babies clothes will just fall through. Woops.
Hospital bag: Not packed but that’s our goal this weekend! I did get a few things this week that will be going in there – comfy nursing nightgown, sweatpants, and a Cake nursing bra and tank.
What’s next: Trying to finish up the nursery this weekend, then we have our growth scan next week and I have another apt with the OB. I start going to the OB every week from here on out. At our last apt baby B was in the 18th percentile and we were told if he drops below 10% then we will have to start getting growth ultrasounds weekly to make sure he’s doing okay. Fingers crossed he’s above the 10th percentile.
Weight gain: My scale said I gained 1 lb this week, so I am almost to 30lbs I think. Will double check next week!
Stretch marks: None. Yay!
Worries? Not really – I will be very happy if both babies are head down in the next week or so, and even happier if they stay head down and don’t decide to come early!
