Hello! How is everyone’s week? Today feels like my Friday because I’m sitting at the airport getting ready to leave for Ohio for 10 days. Two back-to-back weddings calls for a long Ohio trip and I’m really excited to see my family, friends, and my little 6 month old nephew who I haven’t seen since Christmas! I’ll be posting a lot of trip updates on Instagram, so follow along!
This week has been pretty uneventful in terms of being prego. I am still starting to feel better, with a few off days here and there, but all-in-all I am feeling a lottt better. I’m also able to eat dinner for the most part (minus the short ribs I made last night – for some reason couldn’t think about those). I’m also able to cook again which has been great, and Mitch is finally getting fed dinner after my two month break in the kitchen;) My energy is also slowly coming back and I don’t feel like I have to nap every day which is a nice change! Still haven’t used that energy at the gym, but I’ll get there..
Week 15
The twins: babies are the size of pears, weighing in at around 2.5oz/each!
Craving: still craving peaches and nectarines. I crave cold, juicy things, so these fit the bill perfectly. Cutie oranges sound amazing too but they’re out of season and I can’t find them! I also still love really cold whole milk, ice water (this is something I NEVER liked before I was pregnant – I am/was perpetually cold, so I always preferred non-iced water), whole milk yogurt and all dairy it seems (my skin has been breaking out, and I am blaming all the dairy I had added into my diet). Still craving cheeseburgers and Graeter’s mint chip ice cream (ice cream instead of tums for heartburn – yes please). I am going home to Ohio today and have a feeling I’ll be eating a lot of Graeter’s while I am there eek.
Wearing: still all of my regular clothes, but things are getting slightly more uncomfortable around my waist. I still don’t have much a bump, but I like to wear looser clothes already that aren’t restricting. I think I’ll shop for a few new dresses while I’m home in Ohio this week.
Sleeping: Sleep has been okay this week but I have been having crazy vivid dreams! Last night I had a dream the twins were born in 15 minutes, pretty much pain-free, and then I forgot to feed them. Weird! I sleep on my left side because it helps with the slight nausea I am still getting at night, and I always go to sleep propped up because of heartburn (my neck is slowly adjusting to this). I’ve heard great things about certain pregnancy pillows that help combat these issues, but I’ve yet to pull the trigger! I don’t feel pregnant enough for those yet 😉
Names: I’ve been thinking about these a bit more this week! Mitch and I (maybe more so me) love classic, never-go-out-of-style names, and we’re drawn to a few for sure. But, two of our best friends had their first baby last night and her name is really different and I love it (Sutton June), and made me start to think about going for something that isn’t so classic. We shall see.
The Bump: Still pretty much the same it seems. I should be thankful because I have a feeling I am not going to be one of those small pregnant people later on in the game, especially carrying two babies. So I’ll savor these moments where it just looks like I’ve eaten too much.
Exercise: So bad! It was my goal to workout this week (at least 3 times) and did I workout once? No. I think my 2 month hiatus got me very out of the habit of going to the gym, but I just need to force it. While I’m in Ohio it’s my goal to at least walk each day and do some arm weights. It’s been challenging in Texas trying to avoid Zika mosquitos, because it’s eliminated my walks with miss June bug, and that at least had me walking each day for about an hour.
Baby purchases: Still haven’t gotten anything, but I did register this week on amazon! I finished my thesis presentation and my final assignments for school (!!) so I treated myself to a long day of browsing the interwebs for baby things. I’m also getting a TON of advice from other moms which is really helpful, and I basically add whatever they tell me they loved 🙂 If you find my registry on amazon, you’ll notice I got a little carried away with organic cotton baby clothes…couldn’t stop.
Nursery: Mitch and I live in an apartment in Texas that we really like and have decided to stay in it even with the babies being added into the mix. We have a really large guest room that we’re keeping as a guest room, but also making it into a nursery. At first I was bummed about this because I always envisioned creating the cutest nursery ever and caring a lot about it, but I actually am okay with this idea. We don’t live near family, so keeping the guest room is a must, and we can have a cute nursery down the road for future kiddos. Sorry twins! I’ll still keep you updated on what I’m doing in there though. I think we’re set on Ikea cribs so far, with super nice mattresses.
Supplements: Still the same. Prenatals, fish oil, cod liver oil, vitamin d, vitamin k2, magnesium, probiotic.
What’s next: Still looking forward to our next appointment July 5th where we get another ultrasound. I also have an appointment at the end of June at my regular OB.
Weight gain: Well, I weighed myself this morning so this would be accurate, and I think I have gained 5 lbs now! I am not 100% sure because I forgot what I was last week when I weighed myself haha so we will say 5 lbs since the last time I for sure remember the number on my scale. I feel good about this because my goal is to gain 20 lbs by 20 weeks (gaining this much weight this early on should help the babies get larger earlier on, and hopefully get us to 36 weeks with bigger babies). That means, 15 more lbs in 5 weeks – I think my body will naturally just gain the weight with the growing babies and everything else going on, but we will see. I am trying to increase healthy fats and protein to help my body gain healthy weight, not ice cream weight.
Any worries? Still worried about Zika, but there’s very little I can do except stay inside and avoid mosquitos. Other than that, I am feeling good!
